CBR

Our Journey in Community-Based Research: A Photoblog Conducting our Community-Based Research (CBR) was both a challenging and rewarding experience. Together with my groupmates, we explored real-life community issues, engaged with local people, and gathered valuable insights. I actively participated in the focus study and helped in writing the conclusion, ensuring that our findings were clear and meaningful.   Our journey began with an intense brainstorming session. We listed possible topics, debated their relevance, and finally decided on one that would create a meaningful impact in our community.    Before heading into the field, we studied previous research, news articles, and reports related to our topic. This gave us a strong foundation for our study.   Since I was actively involved in the focus study, I helped in formulating questions that would guide our data collection. We made sure our questions were clear, unbiased, and relevant.   ...

Reflection

Third Quarter Reflection  As the third quarter comes to an end, I take this time to reflect on the experiences, challenges, and lessons I have gained throughout this period. This quarter has been full of valuable lessons. I have gained deeper knowledge in various subjects, improved my critical thinking skills, and learned the importance of time management. I also discovered new ways to study more effectively, such as organizing my notes and practicing self-discipline to stay focused on my goals.  Like any learning journey, this quarter was not without its challenges. I struggled with managing my time, especially when juggling multiple tasks and deadlines. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed by academic requirements and extracurricular activities. Additionally, there were topics that I found difficult to understand, which made studying more challenging. To overcome these struggles, I created a study schedule to balance my time more efficiently. I also sought help from my...

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year 2025   Why Do Filipinos Observe the Celebration of Chinese New Year? The Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is widely celebrated in the Philippines. The country has a strong historical and cultural connection with the Chinese community, dating back centuries when Chinese traders and settlers first arrived.   One of the main reasons Filipinos observe Chinese New Year is the significant influence of Chinese culture on Filipino traditions, language, and even cuisine. Many Filipino families have Chinese ancestry, and over time, Chinese traditions have blended with local customs. The celebration is also recognized as a special non-working holiday in the Philippines, allowing people to take part in festivities.   Filipinos celebrate Chinese New Year with various traditions, such as giving out "ang pao" (red envelopes with money), dragon and lion dances, and preparing lucky foods like tikoy

Reflection on 2024 National Children's Month, Climate Change and Resiliency, Indigenous Peoples Month, and Elpidio Quirino's Legacy

Reflection on 2024 National Children's Month, Climate Change and Resiliency, Indigenous Peoples Month, and Elpidio Quirino's Legacy National Children's Month (2024)            This year's observance of National Children's Month reminds us of the critical role that children play in shaping our future. As we reflect on the theme, it is clear that the world’s most vulnerable—our children—are increasingly exposed to global crises like climate change, poverty, and inequality. In 2024, we recognize that protecting the rights of children is not just about providing for their basic needs but also about ensuring their future. It is the collective responsibility of governments, communities, and individuals to create safe, nurturing environments where children can thrive. This is particularly urgent in the face of climate change, which disproportionately affects young people, especially those in marginalized communities. Climate Change and Resiliency  ...

National Women's Month

Celebrating National Women’s Month: A Closer Look at Women's Rights and the Law March is National Women's Month, a time to celebrate the achievements of women around the world, reflect on the progress made, and recognize the work still to be done in the fight for gender equality. It’s also a moment to explore how legal frameworks have shaped and continue to influence women’s rights. Laws have been instrumental in securing rights for women in areas such as employment, health, and education, but they also remain a critical area of focus for advocacy and reform. In this blog post, we will explore two significant laws that have made a profound impact on the rights of women: Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).  Title IX: Ensuring Equal Opportunities in Education Title IX is one of the most important pieces of legislation for women’s rights in the United States. Passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title IX prohibit...
